A highly experienced Physiotherapist and Strength & Conditioning Specialist, with expertise in sports performance, sport specific rehabilitation, movement dysfunction and pre and post-surgery rehabilitation, Derek is the Lead Physiotherapist and Medical Co-ordinator for the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour. He is also the in-house Physiotherapist and a Strength & Conditioning Coach at the prestigious Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club in Dublin.
Himself a former Professional Squash Player, having competed on the PSA World Tour for 12 years and reaching a high of No.7 in the world rankings, Derek is currently a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Advisor to a number of the world’s top ranked squash players including former World Champion and World No.1, Ali Farag. Derek also works with a number of leading PSA players on the Men and Women’s World Tour.
He works with squash clubs on a consultancy basis, providing assessments and strength and conditioning programmes for junior players.
In addition to squash Derek has worked with a number of Irish elite, Olympic and amateur athletes from Sailing, Golf, Tennis and Triathlon, which has provided him with a greater depth and breadth to his experience of sports performance.
